Summary of the day
After pick-up, we'll drive for 75 minutes to our first UNESCO destination: Frederiksoord. Relax and enjoy the views of the Dutch flat landscape while listening to the fascinating story about reclaimed land, polders and dikes. At Frederiksoord, we'll visit the Proefkolonie Museum and enjoy a presentation on Plant Art from Indonesia.
Next, we'll drive to a quaint old Dutch village with traditional thatched-roof farms. Here, we'll enjoy a plant-based lunch before boarding a boat to Giethoorn. While on the boat, you'll learn about the crucial roles of peat and reed harvesting in this water landscape.
After exploring Giethoorn, we'll head to our second UNESCO destination: Schokland. This former island in the Zuiderzee highlights the Dutch mastery over water and features plant art brought to Holland by the VOC.
Our final stop is Het Waterloopbos, where you'll discover scale models of major waterworks projects from around the world, offering a fascinating glimpse into Dutch engineering innovation.
Around 17:30, we'll head back to Amsterdam, arriving around 18:30
